Como Center adds soccer to sports menu
Fort Worth, Texas—A philosophy that works extremely well, and has been proven to be true over the years at the Lake Como Community Center,”‘Its all about the kids,” unfolds again in form of the international sport soccer. A community known throughout the state for its active participation in community athletics, Como’s community center is adding the sport of soccer to their sport menu.
“I’ve been meaning to do it for sometime and now is as good as any,” spoke sports recreational specialist Ozell Cook. When asked about expectations Cook plan is to implement interest slowly featuring four teams in the age range of 4-5 year olds. “I want to take a group and start out like we do with any of our sports, teach them the fundamentals, then focus on other areas building on those same fundamentals,” stated Cook.
The first season, though new to the sports curriculum, was also new for parents. Many were familiar with football, basketball, track and field etc…but some never even viewed a soccer match before.

All things considered, with the foresight of Cook and other Como Center recreational staff the kids in Lake Como will be well-rounded in their knowledge and skills of many sporting specialties that soon may include a golf team. Why? That’s because, ” it’s all about the kids.”
